THE STORY BEHIND THE VOICE
Wayfarer began after work, in a room that had to be cleared before the morning maintenance briefing. Nobody had been brought to Mars to form a band. They had been hired to keep the settlement working.
At Chinatown’s very first open mic, their first song was We Built This World. The audience joined the chorus, demanded an immediate encore and carried it into the next day’s shifts. It became the colony’s anthem by popular choice; official gatherings later adopted what people were already singing.
At a subsequent weekly open mic, young arrivals worker Sadie Blake heard them. Seeing ordinary colony workers make music gave her the courage to try it herself.
Their songs belong to people building something they may never see finished: large choruses, bright keyboards and guitars that reach beyond the walls.
